The Nut
I know this is an unusual formation known as "The Nut," but I was unable to find out the origin of the name.
On day five in Tasmania we visited the village of Stanley situated on the North West coast. This is another historic village with this geological formation towering over the surrounding countryside including the township.
A chairlift takes you to the top and then a two Km circular walk gives an unsurpassed 360 degree view.
This is a "must see" tourist spot when visiting this Island State, and today the weather was just perfect.
The "Nut" reminds me of Cradle Mountain in South Africa. Onto Strahan tomorrow.
