3, 2, 1, GO!

These three tiny little cars have been perched in their starting position in the groove of the handrail at the top of our staircase for weeks on end now, just waiting for a gentle nudge from a passing finger to send them racing for the finish line.

Over the years, our kids have had many hours of fun racing the cars to the bottom; of course there can only be one winner as the track is only one car wide. Inevitably, the winner is the car which is not flung off the track to go tumbling down the staircase to crash into the wall.

These little cars serve as a bittersweet reminder that my kids are not quite so little any more; the fun of racing the cars have been usurped by the multitude of car races on various devices & tablets that now inhabit our house.
