Heritage water tower

At Evandale, an outer suburb on Launceston, is this original water tower built in 1896 to supply water to the surrounding area. Evandale itself has been classed as a historic town and most buildings have been preserved or restored to their original condition.
Tasmania has a lot to be thankful for the input that the convicts sent from England did to develop this Island State of Australia.
Although the tower is no longer used it is kept filled with 80,000 litres of water to preserve the brickwork and prevent the tower from cracking.

A highlight from our third day in Tasmania.
