Leave only footprints
We have had some snow which is good as it has covered up the ice which was making walking from our cabin rather treacherous. At one point SR was threatening to put on her snowshoes just to walk the 2 mins up the hill to the hotel restaurant. We still don’t fancy the ski tracks though so have opted to snow shoe again - (Grip is no problem as you have great big metal crampon like spikes under your boots).
We came upon this Laavu which a guy had just set the fire and spread skins out to sit on, We said hi and walked past had a little look around the top of the hill behind it and decided to come back down, by which time he had gone. The fire was going nicely by this time and the reindeer skins looked warm so we sat down and had a drink of tea from our flask. As we were finishing up we noticed a sign on the Laavu saying it was private, we also noticed a box of wine and other supplies. We were finished anyway so we left. I find sitting outside by the fire here you only think you are getting warm and in general unless you layer up you are actually getting colder. So 5 mins down the track we could hear a bell ringing and along another track came a horse drawn sleigh with a load of people in it. It was heading for the Laavu. I suspect its a luxury trip from one of the hotels. So we had had a sneaky use of their fire, but as ever we took only photographs and left only footprints (Just very big ones!)
