Lothar day
As the Jeep is still being "fixed" -now 2 weeks gone and with luck may get it back end of next week - and we can't trailer the horses, Lothar agreed to come by and do Rosie's pedicure. We compensated by having him do the other two as well although just cutting out and a bit of filling as they don't have shoes at the moment. Asyr always goes barefoot, Sultan will probably get shoes again the next time, in 8 weeks.
Lothar was very pleased with Rosie's hooves. The months of very expensive farrier work seemed to have worked, no doubt together with the strict diet. It really is hard not to feed her all those things we humans think our horses need - cereals, dried bread, carrots, apples, treats......grass/hay seem so boring.
Lothar says there is still quite a bit of snow where he lives in southern Austria.
Weather here was nothing special and felt cold in the moisture filled air but luckily it didn't rain.
Luna loves the farriers visits. Despite her normal "respect" for the horses, she ventures very close when the hooves are cut out and there are chunks to be collected and buried somewhere in the garden. She constantly took a piece, disappeared and returned 5 minutes later with a brown muddy nose.
