Cumbria Mountain Express
HAd a spin out to the Yorkshire dales National Park for a walk around Langcliffe, the Attermire and Victoria caves Catterigg Fss Falls and and River Ribble. It's a popular round walk with plenty of interest. Attermire Cave is high in a limestone cliff and involves a good scramble and head for heights and a passage leads into hill side for a good 75mtrs before the roof gets to low. Two species of over wintering moths where found but I'll have to wait till Monday for my moth man to ID the photos. We knew that a steam special was over the Settle and Carlisle railway so we timed the end of our walk so we could drive the few miles up to Ribblehead Viaduct for the iconic view and joined the phalanx of other photographers all getting their images of Scots Guardsman 46115 4-6-0 engines like this hauled express passenger trains along the line in its heyday. Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant to you all.
