Double Shot Mummy

Chalk and Cheese....

As a mummy of twins plus one, it has been important to foster individual identities. I think we have have been blessed with the easiest combination: Non-identical, boy/girl twins.

There are all sorts of identity-related things to consider along your twin journey (Including but not limited to!)...

Buying same/different gifts
Individual birthday cards, cakes.... parties? How far do you go?
When you take them to a birthday party, do you take a gift from each or a combined present?
To dress the same or different? I remember obsessing about Oscar and Bailee being in matching girl/boy outfits as babies.
If one has an allergy to something (i.e. gluten), do you offer those things to the non-allergic twin in the other's presence? (In fact we do! Oscar is amazing about it)
Individual activities (Outing with one parent, sports classes etc)
I know it is inevitable that Oscar or Bailee will be invited to a playdate/party independent of their sibling some day....

I know you could say the same about all siblings, but due to twins being the same age, they are at a similar stage of mental and physical development and are more likely to have the same group of friends.

Somehow, some way, Oscar and Bailee have developed extremely unique personalities which they identify themselves with and embrace. They are chalk and cheese. They love each other to bits, but don't mind time apart and are always talking about the others special characteristics! "Oscar doesn't like...."
"Bailee was not scared of the..."

It is all very interesting...
