One Step at a Time

Life in the Old Dog

I hadn't intended on this being pic of the day but in the end thought this might be interesting to share.

This was taken with a new camera but using this lens.. A 35mm f2.4 Carl Zeiss of indeterminate age. It's a very old M42 mount (apparently) so adaptor to Nikon F required. As a result it's manual focus, manual aperture control, no metering and no flash control which makes for quite an 'organic' shooting process. This was about the sixth attempt gradually reducing the flash down to a mere puff.

So anyway, this is a JPEG straight from the camera with no adjustments whatsoever. I did try straightening it but for some reason it looks better this way. Love the specs of dust, scratches and the knurling on the command dial.

Sorry, most normal people will have fallen asleep by now.

The other take on the 'old dog' theme is that the camera in the picture is still going strong after snapping the majority of the photos of the day during 2013.
