We had a reasonably efficient trip into Deltebre, managing to achieve most of what we set out to do in a mere three hours. We had great difficulty finding a supermarket and eventually resorted to the tourist information office, found by chance miles out of town. A good move because the very helpful Carmen spent about half an hour with us and sent us off with some maps and guides and a poster of local birds with their names in six languages, and even phoned a couple of walking clubs for S. And pointed us to the supermarkets, of which there turned out to be five, all close to each other, which we had mysteriously managed to miss in our travels around town.
We lunched on the terrace in the sun! And then finished setting up our office in the spare bedroom, and caught up on emails. We stopped work at five and went for a stroll along the boardwalk in the opposite direction from yesterday. It had started to cloud over, and the soft sunlight and long shadows enhanced the beauty of the environment and its muted colour palette of sepia and pale blue-grey, with the long grasses standing out against the sky.
Now S is grilling calçots on the barbecue in the dark, aided by his ultra-powerful head torch, and I'm lounging on the sofa drinking wine and blipping. This is the life!
PS and on this day last year, it was snowing at home!
