Very High Up and Far Away.
Our university peregrines have returned to the nest platform to find that it's had a makeover. I went down there today to pick up my copy of the Breeding Birds of the Sheffield Area - and a stunning publication it is too. No doubt a photo will find its way into Blip at some point. It was partly funded by people sponsoring birds - mine was the Curlew, so I've got my name on P142. I'd taken my long lens with me as I'd seen from @peregrines2014 on Twitter, that there was plenty of activity around the platform. There was indeed one bird perched obligingly on one of the spires, but even at 500mm, it required significant cropping to make it more than a dot. They are very high-tech Peregrines, because as well as a Twitter account, they have their own Webcam Feed, which can be seen at this page. Can't wait for the eggs / chicks / feeding etc to happen. 3 youngsters successfully fledged last year despite the atrocious weather in late March.
Edinburgh tomorrow. Really looking forward to it!
