Communication breakdown

On hind sight, I can see what happened quite clearly.

I had forgotten to fill the dog's water bowl, so Baldrick, being older (2and a half) and wiser than Grace, tired to open the hose nozzle.

Having pulled it off to no avail because the tap, about which he knows nothing, was turned off, he decided to vent his irritation on the nozzle itself.
