"What’s the hardest thing about being an artist?”
"You put so much of yourself into it. It becomes deeply personal and it’s hard to distance yourself. Then those niggling thoughts creep in, and you start questioning and analysing every little thing.”
As an artist, or a ‘creative’ as certain sections of the community like to call it, Scarlett’s answer very much resonated with me. I imagine almost all creative people go through the same process. I talked to Scarlett at length about this topic, both of us providing our own interpretation of our experiences and how we dealt with certain situations. We didn’t come to any great conclusion, other than to agree that the state of mind plays a huge part.
Scarlett was carrying a large A1 folder containing her entire portfolio. She had just been for an interview with the art school and said it had gone well. Hopefully she will be starting in the new term.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
