"The Mews"
That is the name given to this corridor space on the University of Cincinnati campus, between the new Steger Student Life Center on the left and the older Swift, Baldwin and Rhodes Halls on the right. The column capital in the foreground is one of three dotted along this space, rescued from the former Beecher Hall, which was demolished to make room for University Pavilion. The long and slender Steger Student Life Center houses offices, business center, computer lab, art gallery and a Starbucks. The facility is named for Joseph A. Steger, the 24th president of UC who served from 1984-2003.
After my class this morning, I stopped and did grocery shopping on the way home. Then later in the afternoon, I went and picked Roger up from work to go up to Miami University to see the football game. Miami played fairly well in the first half, and at half time the score was equal, but the second half was all Bowling Green, and they ended up winning 35-14! It had been another beautiful day, but with the clear skies, it soon got pretty cold once the sun was down. I had dressed in about four layers, and we had an old sleeping bag over our knees, but by the fourth quarter I was still getting cold! We saw Laura and her roommate (who is also in band) briefly after the game, picking them up and taking them to pick up some food, then taking them back to their dorm. Next time we see her will probably be Thanksgiving, which isnt far away. There is one more football game next Wednesday, but we'll be missing that one as its choir practice night.
