All roots lead to Ivy
Just before Christmas in the strong winds these ivy roots lost the battle to hold onto this particular shrub. The trunk of the shrub had grown weak and brittle over the years at the ivy roots sucked the life out of it. So much so that on a very blustery day trunk cracked leading behind part of the encrusted root system of the ivy in tack. Now there is a strong wall of ivy still growing on the remaining stump with a solitary ivy leave on what would seem to be the wrong side or the root system.
It is here the this leaf is protected from the elements. It is still, but alive!
