Walking Phnom Penh continued!

Phnom Penh is a typical chaotic city, mostly quite dirty it has to be said but that's part and parcel of travelling this side of the world (Africa too to be fair and no doubt South America!)

Today I got a tuk tuk to Phsar Thmey the 'Central Market' - a unique Art Deco interpretation of the market where four parts converge in a dome, though perhaps to reflect the four arms of the Chaktomuk - the convergence of the Mekong River. I was navigating my way round the edge and working out which part to venture into and here I encountered perhaps my favourite tuk tuk driver - the conversation lasting only a few minutes ran thus:

Hello lady, tuk tuk?
No thank you I'm walking...
Why?
Because I like walking
I think tuk tuk better lady
But Walking is good and free
(Cue laugh from tuk tuk driver )

So a morning of exploring on foot and photographing the sights..

I then walked further and up to the original pagoda discovered by the lady Penh then through the streets past the old French colonial buildings before stopping for a Chicken satay pitstop at Riverside-Bistro. Here I got accosted by two young boys in brightly coloured outfits (pyjamas possibly) who were intent on selling me bracelets, I did buy three for the princely sum of $2 but negotiated with them to take their picture for another amount rather than have more unnecessary and unwanted bracelets! Funnily enough they were quite happy with that deal!

Round to the Mansion and stopped to watch the drumming and dancing flashmobs performing as part of the Our City events.

I had planned to go to the cinema where they show international films in aircon cinema for $3.50 and watch About Time, but due to slight confusion ended up at the wrong cinema where they were instead showing Dallas Buyers Club (I'm sure a good film but not one for me) so i headed off back to the hotel instead.

I couldn't pick just one picture today as so much colour and contrast so it's a collage of some of them!!
