The energy debate..
Here we see in the foreground wind turbines converting the power of the wind into energy for use by mankind. Wind generation is controversial in some quarters, but no one doubts it is clean and makes a contribution to reducing our dependence upon hydrocarbons.
In the distant background you can see the towers spouting up from Mossmorran natural gas liquids fractionation plant. I described the Mossmorran operation in a recent Blip.
In my humble opinion, Scotland's future, lies in renewable energy. It is the responsibility of countries that have benefited from the production of hydrocarbons to lead the way in investing in a low carbon future. In the long term, renewable energy represents a safer, more cost-effective means of electricity generation than the expensive nuclear plants that the Westminster Government currently favours. The transition to renewable energy reduces our dependence on carbon-intensive fuels, and will bring greater long-term stability to energy prices for consumers.
