Sunshine and blue skies - at last!
After weeks of grey skies and relentless rain, we ventured a little further afield to....a reservoir! I have seen enough water over the last few weeks to last quite sometime but Bough Beech Reservoir is apparently where our 'winter water' comes from and it looks as if we aren't facing a drought! Bough Beech is also a nature reserve, especially for bird watching, and used to be important for migrating osprey, though they are a rare sight now as the reservoir is no longer stocked with trout.
The tree in the middle of the picture, with webbed roots, is normally quite a few feet from the waters edge. This gives some indication of just how much rain we've had. Today it's been wall to wall sunshine which has lifted the spirits no end!
