Lochan Tuirc

Another new walk greeted with approval; we headed up in to woodland on the south side of Laggan Reservoir (following the Corrour road initially) and then branched off in to an area of harvested woodland which gave a fine view down over Lochan Tuirc and on towards Binnein Shuas and the othe big Ardverikie mountains. Some of the clouds had a definite pink tinge despite being midday.
We were generally very lucky with the weather window too. We just had one small snow shower land on us and we actually enjoyed some blue sky and sunshine on the way back.
Communication:
Earlier this week we were doing work in Stirlingshire hills near Callander. The site was difficult to find without first hand knowledge and we arranged to meet the engineer (at his suggestion) at the Woollen Mill carpark at Kilmahog. Our trip south on Thursday morning was a slow one; lots of temporary traffic lights and blizzards on the higher sections of road. The satnav indicated that we were going to be about 15 minutes late and I texted (while in one of the many hold ups) to update the engineer of our new eta.
We arrived at the carpark only 14 minutes late but the engineer (who had a much shorter commute) was nowhere to be seen. We knew he would either be in his own car or his distinctive bright red works pick up). There was no signal on my phone either. After ten minutes I decided to drive towards Callander to try and get signal. To my surprise in another 200 yards there was another woollen mill but his car wasn’t there either. There was no Vodafone signal in Callander either and eventually I was told there hadn’t been any service in the area for weeks. I turned back towards Kilmahog resigned to waiting for him and as we neared the other woollen mill spotted the engineer standing in the car park beside what we learned was his new car.

Lesson learned regarding arranging meeting place.
How many places fit the description? If there are two woollen mills specify which one, if it is at the doorway to a building establish how many there are and which one it is.
If it is a new acquaintance (or a car which may be spotted first) offer a description. “I will be the one with a parrot on my shoulder.” And just in case there is someone else with a parrot specify the colour of your parrot.
