Prelude to Blip

Rachel (thats momsrachel in blipland) got her first (non-throwaway) camera from me (rachelsmom) for her birthday and I got my camera from AlwaysWandering right around the same time. I had not had my own camera since the little "brownie" camera I had that I saved up babysitting money for when I was about 13 years old. Someone else just always had one or needed one and it didn't seem important for me to have my own. But I was always uncomfortable borrowing someone else's. (What if I broke it?)

So Rachel and I found ourselves both having cameras when we took a month long vacation across country with Orygonhomeboy (Who, come to think of it, had two cameras and a video camera). Well, Rachel and I were so excited! We saw so many things and went so many different places. She would point out fantastic shots for me and I would do the same for her.

Rachel took 7,000 pictures on our trip (Thank goodness for digital cameras) I took almost 4,000! We had the most marvelous time and we have the pictures to prove it! When we got to Alwayswandering in New York (which was our main goal) Rachel and I were comparing pictures and getting ready to download them on to her computer so we could takes lots more the next day! Alwayswandering took this picture and later sent it to me telling me it was one of her favorites. Now AlwaysWandering has wandered to London and then to India, and I just got back from bringing Rachel to her home in California. I find myself staring at this picture - a lot! It brings me back to a very happy time and the beginning of Rachel and I discovering our love of taking pictures! AlwaysWandering is also the one that got us both started on blipfoto so I have a lot more to thank her for than just being one of the four best daughters I have!

Technically, then, this is not a picture I took but actually, I took a picture of the picture AlwaysWandering took so I think that works. It is also why the picture is a little blurry. For those of you looking at AlwaysWandering's pictures - you know she would not take a blurry picture! Hope everyone had a nice weekend.
