#13 Merry-Trotter
DDW February Challenge #13 Merry-Trotter
From the Dictionary of Archaic English Words and Phrases:
Merry-Trotter. A swing. North. The Meritot is mentioned by Chaucer. "Merry-Trotter, a rope fastened at each end to a beam or branch of a tree making a curve at the bottom near the floor, or ground, in which a child can sit, and holding fast by each side of the rope is swung backwards and forwards," MS. Yorkish. Gloss.
This 3 1/2 year old was having a great time on the modern merry-trotter at a park down the street from our house. He was very happy about being in a picture that might end up on blipfoto. :)
