Constable at Petworth
Two friends and I went to see the Constable exhibition at Petworth House today.
We first had lunch at the historic Horseguards pub in Tillington (so named because the cavalry stayed there while escorting the gold bullion from London to the navy in Portsmouth).
This is a post card of Constable's watercolour of Tillington Church painted in 1834.
(I blipped the church on 4th November last year).
Constable stayed at Petworth House, West Sussex, several times in his life. The house is now owned by the National Trust.
