Another winter day...
I slept in this morning later than usual and after having my breakfast, I did a quick twenty minutes on the exercise bike before going out. I stopped at Starbucks for a coffee and sat enjoying the music they and watching people coming in and out. There is something about a place that smells of fresh ground coffee that makes you want to linger. While I was there, someone bumped into the table by the door where a woman was sitting with her hot coffee and the coffee spilt out and went all over the table and the woman. She let out a yelp due to the hot coffee hitting her leg. Employees quickly attended to her and by the time I left, she was sitting with a bandage on her leg. I think she was more upset about her pants than her leg and seemed to be ok.
After I left Starbucks, I went over to the park to see if there was anything blip worthy. The only things on the lake were a bunch of gulls and they were not moving much at all. I think they were huddling to keep warm. I took a few pictures of the group of them but the gray and white gulls against the frozen lake did not produce a very interesting photo. Then I spotted this one sitting on the fence. He appeared to be looking right into the lens.
I heard something above me in the huge pine tree. When I looked up, I noticed these great pinecones. Many species of birds and squirrels feed on pinecones including woodpeckers and I would have been happy to get a picture of one but I didn’t see any around and it was about to start snowing. Yes, more snow. Just another winter day.
