I’ve had a busy day today, making: tomato & basil soup for lunch, chocolate brownies for the lads, a cheesecake* for all of us for tomorrow, a panettone for my brother and a curry for dinner.

In between all this, we dodged the showers and popped out for a bit this afternoon. We visited the Priory Church at Edington, described as one of the most important village churches in England and the only perfect example of a monastic church in Wiltshire. Unfortunately, we didn’t time our visit very well, as it came in the 3-week period when the church is in complete chaos because the new organ is being installed. We could only get to certain parts of the church, but we did manage to get fairly close to the Lewis Monument, which dates to 1630. We intend to go back another time so that we can look around properly.

* It's a chilled cheesecake, rather than a baked one, and it didn’t seem very inclined to thicken. The jury’s still out as to whether we’ll be eating it with a fork – or with a spoon!
