Mystery fungus

This strange fungus is growing out of a tiny puncture in a black polythene covered silage bale. The fungus that is known to occur in this unusual habitat is Splitgill, Schizophyllum commune, a species I've photographed recently on a fallen Willow branch. This specimen just doesn't look like that - indeed a close-up shot would have you believing it is a cluster of Barnacles on a coastal rock! I may have to accept that it is in fact a particularly concentrated growth of Splitgill, but for the moment I'm hoping I can find some rare species of resupinate or cauliflower fungus that matches it - the optimism of a naturalist!
