Between fen and mountains

Corneilla

The low sun at this time of the year lends itself to bringing out the colour of Mediterranean roofs. Corneilla is our neighbouring village and a has a lovely Romanesque church. It also has much lower local taxes than our village, about half what we pay. It is one of the peculiarities of French local government at the level of the Mairie that two neighbouring villages can make such varying charges. It affects choices when moving. An average household might pay around €1000 less per annum in Corneilla.
