The peak
During a trip on the highway, I have crossed the Apennine Ridge. The highest peak of the Apennines is the Corno Grande in the Gran Sasso Massif.
The highway offers stunning views of mountains and valleys, but few places from which to capture this beauty. I had to take advantage of a fleeting stop in a lay-emergency to take a picture before the clouds completely wrapped the peack.
The right moment for the shot was running away but I still managed to capture the struggle between the elements of nature.
The colors were not important and that is why I chose to take this picture in black and white, to highlight the harshness of the rock and the contrast between the clear sky and the dense clouds, the clash between the pull by the earth and erosion by the wind.
