Last day
So we were heading home today. Since that was the case I made an extra early start. Wed been getting up early anyway so there was time for a shower then a chance to nip out for good coffee every morning. One of the only problems with the previous two trips was we never found anywhere that did great coffee.
This year, thanks to a top tip from the fantastic staff at Brewlab we discovered The Barn who did amazing coffee. Every morning our routine has included one of their excellent flat whites and an orange, apple, carrot and ginger juice before nipping back to the hotel in time for breakfast. It's been a great way to start the day.
We had been drinking in the local one on Auguststrasse, but they have a roastery on Schönhauser Allee next to White Trash and the Ableton offices. The roastery is closed to the public on a Monday so they can do their weekly roast. The fresh beans don't make it down to the one on Auguststrasse until later on the Tuesday so I did teh twenty minute walk up there to grab a bag of beans which were pretty much as freshly roasted as you could hope for.
I had a flat white while I was up there then stopped at the local one to grab a second one as well. I'll miss the morning routine now we're nome. I can still get great coffee at Brewlab, but it's not easy to do it before breakfast here.
Anyway, along with the Buchstabenmuseum BArn it my top new Berlin fond for this year.
The journey home went smoothly and it was great to get home and see Roz and Mads, it was a fantastic week, but I really missed them.
