York railway museum

Today the Minx had a mission in York so I opted to drive across with her. Despite it being rather frosty when we set off, it was a perfect day for driving and we had a lovely trip.

Finding myself with a little time to pass when we arrived, I took a mooch around the railway museum. Now, I'm not a train nerd but I loved seeing all these big machines, especially the one sat on big turntable because I had a little railway set like that when I was small.

But what really amazed me was all of the old coaches. Many of them were set out just like ordinary rooms in a house. There was even one with a bath in it!

I can only apologise for the quality of this picture but I had to take it through the window. It shows a 'study' with a sofa (just in shot) and a desk and chair. What really caught my attention, though, was the telephone. Has someone just added that as ornamentation or did they really have 'phones that worked on trains? Surely not!
