Shanghai: Up in the Air

A Shanghai weekend dash to catch a traveling nephew and friend as they passed through China resulted in a lovely late-night visit to the Shanghai World Financial Centre.

Here's the view 100 floors up (474 M) looking out over the Jin Mao Tower, its 88-floor height now dwarfed (long gone are the heady days of 1999-2007 when it was the tallest building in the PRC), and the Oriental Pearl Tower all dressed in red for Chinese New Year.

We were lucky. Going up at 9pm meant no queues, lots of lights and, that particular night, a pretty clear view.

Enjoy your time Shanghai World Financial Centre as next-door the 121-storey (632 M) Shanghai Tower is nearing completion...
