Jennings and Darbishire

Looking through one of the windows of the "Fifteen Century Bookshop" in Lewes this morning I was reminded of the Jennings books by Anthony Buckeridge. Apparently these are based, in part, on his own years at boarding school in Seaford. He later lived near Lewes.

Billy Bunter and William I ignored but I can remember avidly reading Jennings in the 60s. As I grew up abroad it probably gave me a very odd view of life in England.
