Australian Inland Summer Pasture
This is a typical summer scene of farm country west of The Great Dividing Range in south eastern Australia.
It has a beauty all its own.
On the first day of the last official month of summer have taken this vista at the height of the mid-afternoon sun to convey the shimmering atmosphere from the homestead yard of our friend's sheep farm.
There is little nutrient left for sheep and cattle in this very dry pasture and they often forage below the dirt to get the roots.
So at this time of year farmers supplement their stock with grain and hay.
Only four hardy sheep seen here.
The rest are all sensibly camped in the shade.
