A Touch of Green

As predicted, the newspaper caption under a picture of a man walking on a wet street with an umbrella over his head read, "The first rain of the month did little but moisten the sidewalks....State Climatologist Michael Anderson said it would take something on the order of the 'March Miracle' storms....of 1991...."

While Ozzie was mining the brown field for tender shoots of green grass, which had appeared overnight, we ran into a man, well,...Ozzie did, and we commented on what a beautiful morning it was. The sky was a cloudless blue, the grass sparkled with overnight rain, and everything looked washed clean. The redwinged blackbirds were especially vociferous, and I even saw one on top of a bush uttering his distinctive metallic sounding answering a distant companion. It is true, there is no water in the long dry creek beds, but when I paraphrased the above quote, the man said, "Of course it helps. Every little bit helps."

It all depends on one's perspective...
