This is a Duraglas fishing float, made during WW2 by Owens-Illinois Glass Company, and gifted to me by my father-in-law over 30 years ago. Floats like this were used by fishermen to keep their nets afloat and could be anywhere from 2-20 inches in diameter. While they are no longer in use, they are still found floating in the oceans. Glassblowers handmade early floats, but this one was blown into a mold--seams are visible. It is smooth, unlike many surviving floats, without a lot of wear patterns from the salt water, sand, and sun, so here it is for the smooth challenge.
