A lazy shot in Canterbury

Went to Canterbury today in high expectation of a good day out. On the agenda was a short whizz around the shops followed by lunch then a walk along the City Walls, admiring the view of the city and Cathedral.

All went well until the heaven's opened while having a coffee and so the shopping bit occupied a little more time before lunch. A good lunch was the highlight of the day, fish and chips at Mrs Jones's Kitchen, a 2 for 1 deal courtesy of Tastecard. Still the rain hammered down, one extended shower instead of the scattered showers and sunny intervals we were forecast.

So while the rain was merely heavy we visited a few more shops and caught the bus back to the Park and Ride and home, cutting our losses. This shot is THE shot taken by most people who visit the city - the Catherdral framed by the medieval street of Butchery Lane. That's why it's lazy! Some people are upset that the charge for getting into the Catherdral is £9.95 for adults. I don't just mean getting inside the building I mean getting into the Catherdral Precinct. I'm not sure I'm in favour of that. I know it costs a huge amount of money to maintain the fabric of the building but I think you should be able to see the outside without having to pay.

It was still raining heavily in the evening, but with the advantage of full wet weather gear and my electronic handwarmer, we braved the torrential downpours and splashed our way around Bearsted for 90 minutes or so before coming back to the house for a well earned tea.

Unfortunately, the forecast for tomorrow doesn't appear to be very inspiring. The weather reporter said it would be cold and wet with a chilling breeze, be prepared for a miserable day. What chance of a good blip tomorrow I wonder?
