The floating village
Today we were privileged enough to visit the Tonle sap lake, the home of the floating villages. The picture above is of one of the 'nicer' floating houses, as the people living there are very poor. However, the Vietnamese and the Muslims that predominantly live there are some of the happiest, and most great full people we have ever met. Whilst on the lake, we also got the chance to visit the GECKO organisation that looks after the lake, and also runs some local orphanages. Afterwards, we saw catfish and crocodile farms, with some of the crocodiles weighing over 50kg! On the Tara boat, the Khmer people fed us some local food to end the trip. In the evening, we visited pub street to get some food, and wandered the night markets to get some presents for back home. It was absolutely beautiful.
