Assortment
An assortment of photographs from Northam, the Suspension Bridge Spanning the Avon River at Northam is one of town's most treasured icons.
The bridge is said to be the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Australia, spanning some 117m.
The bridge was built in 1975 It was designed to withstand winds of up to 150km/h and hold up to 400 people at a time.
The white Swan of Northam, there is rumoured to be round 80 White Swans on the Avon River although we have only ever seen four of them along with two cygnets, at Northam, it's the only breeding site in Australia.
The post office was built in 1908, although the town itself was inhabited around 1836.
It was first explored in 1830 by the colonist Robert Dale, assigned to Capt.James Stirling's fleet. The first Governor of W.A
