Kookaburra
I've spent today exploring Brisbane a little bit. I walked from the apartment toward the city, not really appreciating how far it is, especially in 27* and sandals! So it took a long time, but it was worth it when I got there! I started at South Bank Parklands which has a few bars and cafés on the waterfront, and then different parts to the park. There's formal gardens, play areas, the Street Beach, and a rainforest walkway, and they end at the cultural centre with the Brisbane Wheel and the arts centre. There's an amazing path running all the way through which has an interesting metal structure over it, and then some pink flowery plant creating shade. I had a ride on the wheel just to orientate myself a bit, and then wandered back to the Goodwill bridge for lunch (which was delicious). This afternoon I headed over the river into the city botanical gardens which again were incredible. Loads of interesting things to see, and I don't even like gardens! I spied this guy in a tree and think I got a pretty good shot of him, I'm pretty sure it's a kookaburra but I wouldn't argue if someone disagrees...
Finished off my afternoon heading into the CBD to have a wander but I spied my terrible sunburn in a mirror and quickly got on a bus home instead! Oops, that'll teach me to be deceived by wind and cloud. I now have very sore arms and feet, but it has been a great day and I'm considering emigrating here.
