Where would you rather be?...
.....well, it was time for the age-old business ritual of the Leaving Party last night. I'd selected the Traverse Theatre Bar and received a gentle ribbing for it being a bit hoity toity, but it was the only place in the locale that would accept a booking where I had absolutely no idea how many people would turn up. Nancy counted seventy peeps at one point and I was genuinely surprised at the array, from Gary Potter my trainer on my first day at Scottish Widows in 1987 through to the marvellous D&I team and such an amazing mix of dear colleagues and good friends in between. I'm genuinely touched and it showed in my voice just at the tail-end of my speech.
Pete, my boss through many adventures delivered his speech and it had me reminiscing of the many times I'd nearly got the sack! He also didn't miss telling me that he turned down an all expenses paid trip to The House of Commons for a British & Irish Lions rugby piss-up last night. Where would you rather be?
Anyhoo, cracking night of many, many unfinished conversations and just lovely see everyone there.
