Hope and growth
As a break from the daily routine I went to Moffat this afternoon - in horrible wet weather - to join Aileen Campbell - Minister for Children and Young People for the presentation of the first winners of the Youth achievement Platinum Awards from Dumfries and Galloway. Inspiring event showing the support of family, school, professionals and community supporting young people in their development.
Today's blip is the present each of us received as a gift for being present: 3 tulip bulbs which along with the snowdrop bowls - and a reference to Janus the Roman God of doorways - symbolised growth and hope. The clear message was of young people being supporters to fulfil their potential.
I had hoped to have time to visit the town cemetery in Moffat to see the grave and memorial stone of John Louden McAdam - he of Tarmac fame. But work demands and traffic left me no time so that will have to be for another time. Our son has yet to establish a direct link but the family roots are in the Borders but there are possible relationships.
PS. I had to pass yesterday's bus shelter and the Furby had gone!
