Survival
Sunshine is creeping in
And somewhere in a field a life begins .....
A faintly remembered line
Stirs into consciousness
And a melody emerges.
Not a madeleine
But the quiet beauty
Of a winter's morning
Strangely takes me back
To troubled teens
When I sought escape
And wondered how I would survive.
The first two lines are from Survival by Yes, which I've rediscovered today [and hadn't remembered the very odd and disturbing line - An egg too proud to rape]. It was a beautiful sunrise, with just the odd sounds of birds and waves, and I felt so fortunate to be able to enjoy it. I love the hedge etched against the roseate sky and the reflective puddle and the faintly textured clouds.
