Times They are A-Changing

A sign of the times perhaps as we passed Adam House* this morning- the bacchanalian revelries suggested by this Romanesque stone pitcher in a niche, augmented by an empty Buckfast bottle, the drink of Rab C Nesbitt, he of string vest fame.

It may also be the popular drink of some of the incumbents in our local pharmacy to which we had recourse this morning.
They were there, accompanied by a fierce pit bull type dog for their daily methadone fix, while we were in for a much less dodgy prescription.

We try not to use this pharmacy for the very reason of having to mix with the district's vagrants; it's just unfortunate that it is our nearest one.

*Adam House belongs to the University and is a venue for exams. It was designed by Sir William Kininmonth in 1954 who employed my uncle as the quantity surveyor.
I was always led to believe that I was named after Kininmonth's wife.
I can't say the connection was of any help when I sat exams there.
