Bergenia Cordifolia - a rhizome

Dh has been moving plants around in front garden to accommodate a new spot for our bird feeders so that we can have them in gravel over weed-suppressant membrane. One species of plants that he moved (and is pretty good at moving itself) is Bergenia (common name Elephants' Ears). This happened to be a good pic for a blog post that I was writing for #rhizo14 MOOC I am currently doing (that's an open online learning thing) so win win!
