Being the school October break, Edinburgh daughter, granddaughter and I trained it through to the west for a rendezvous with Glasgow daughter and granddaughter and a "ladies who do coffee mornings" meeting. His Lordship was pounding the hills with the "Last of the Summer Wine" so was not sitting lonely as a cloud at the castle.
After our chat and some Lucy and Nina interaction, it was off to do some serious shopping- well actually I spent most of my time browsing in the Art Store in Queen Street along with what seemed like half of the Art College students. I have never managed to stop thinking that if I just bought some extra piece of art equipment I would be able to transform myself into a proper artist. Needless to say, disappointment sits squarely on my shoulders, but I came away with a pencil and two uniball pens.... quite a cheap morning then!
A trip to Glasgow never fails to lift the spirits even though it was dull and dreich, Buchanan Street was bustling as usual and men with a huge crane were putting up the Christmas decorations in George Square. No doubt the arrival of "The Holy Wean" and family will come much later as there is always the threat of them being spirited away as happened several years ago.
