Littlehampton, West Sussex
The sun was quite warm at Littlehampton today, if you could get out of the wind. These beach huts (and miles of others like them ) provided great shelter for a long walk along the shoreline at East Beach. We had our first picnic of the year - well ok it was in the car but still qualifies. Almost cloudless sky the whole day.
In the distance are the sand dunes at West Beach, separated from the town by the River Arun and generally much quieter. It’s one of only three sand dune systems in West Sussex and protected for all sorts of reasons – Nature Reserve and SSSI for starters. For me it’s a much harder walk on pebbles and no shelter to be had, so we took to the crowded prom on the East side instead, along with hundreds of grown ups, kids, dogs, bikes, scooters, invalid scooters and ONE monocyclist. Glorious day.
