And the winner is .....,,

Today was the annual Mull Bird Race where teams compete to spot the most species of birds on the Island.

Delighted to report I came joint 1st with a total of 61 species spotted. My team of 2 also spotted 4 mammals against the other team of 6 members who had 3 mammals but we agreed to share the famous Oystercatcher Trophy.

A highlight for me was a pair of golden eagles drifting overhead, followed shortly by a white tailed eagle - awesome.

The Bird Group as a whole saw a total of 79 species - not bad for a wet day in January.

Well done everyone who took part and a big thank you to Elaine at the Coffee Pot in Salen for supplying tea and cakes - lemon drizzle to die for :-)
