A dreich day. I woke to the sad news about Mikaeel. I suppose given the length of time a family member would always come under suspicion, but it is tragic, no matter what the back story.

My left arm and elbow are sore. It's my shoulder that's the problem and it was certainly creaking when I did my 30 mins at the Commonwealth Pool.

#2 son is in Glasgow, at J's band's gig. I came home from the pool to do some washing and tidying and making veg soup. I'm definitely going back to yoga, probably a couple of times a week when I can manage. The stiffness and the inflexibility are not getting any better - age, less walking and no much sitting are at the root of this.

So thinking I need to keep on the move I set off to do what I nearly did last week - the Louise Bourgeois exhibition at GOMA One. I drove, BIG mistake, particularly as two buses at the end of the road take me to within a 10 minute walk. The ever revised Edinburgh road traffic systems defeat me. How do you get from the bottom of Lothian road to Queensferry road in a car? 2 minutes on foot it took me a wild detour round the New Town to get to where I wanted to be.

But I did get there and enjoyed the exhibition before some lunch in the cafe and purchases in the shop; 2 prints, a Joan Eardley and a John Bellany, and a set of espresso cups. After that I crossed to GOMA Two to visit the J D Fergusson colourist exhibition. I really enjoyed that. I like the colourists . But it wasn't any warmer when I came out - colder and dreicher in fact.

So home now. The blip is looking from the front of GOMA One (the ex John Watson's School) to GOMA Two (the former Orphanage).

And a couple of things to celebrate today; one in the blip community Barking, whom I have followed since she was one of the volunteers helping in Christchurch after the earthquake and who celebrated her 40th birthday before Christmas has become engaged to DB in Victoria, Australia. Such happy news, and I moved into this house, my new home, a year ago. Also happy!
