Smoke in the valley

I am not sure what is the most environmentally friendly fuel for winter fuel in a valley with steep sides. The smoke will tend to linger in the valley as this photo demonstrates. However, the population is not large so there is little pollution I imagine. This morning involved the usually walk into the village for the Saturday market and the usual purchase of mussels and lemon sole. The fishmonger told me of an English customer bemoaning the number of immigrants in England. The irony of her position as an English woman abroad seemed to have escaped her!
