Light on Wintery Trees

Made the most of some early sunshine with a bike ride across the Levels this morning. The water has subsided considerably round this way, but the flooding is still bad further south.

When we got back we found a starling in the garden with its leg trapped in our neighbour's fence which fell down in the recent storms; the poor thing was very distressed and had almost wrenched its foot off in its struggle to break free. I managed to release it and it flew straight off with no apparent problems, though I suspect it may be hopping on one leg for the rest of its life.
