EARLY MORNING

After the early morning walk we throw open all the doors and windows to let the cool morning air flow through the house. As the morning progresses, the doors, windows and shutters are closed to keep out the heat.
These old mud brick cottages with their thick walls are amazingly cool. It is 32 degrees in the shade on the stoep and I do not even need to use a fan in my studio which used to be the old"waenhuis" (wagon house).
