Reinventing the wheel
In technology and education there's often a lot of frustration at the time, effort, and money spent 'reinventing the wheel', and it can be utterly frustrating to go over the same things repeatedly or to refuse to learn from other's experience. However, a former colleague (Phil Barker, drawing on Martin Oliver) likes to quietly point out that some companies, spend a lot of time and money trying to reinvent the wheel (eg Bridgestone or Goodyear). It can be equally dangerous to assume that particular questions are settled.
I'll admit that the reflection is driven by the picture this time! Dried salt, snow, and textures made this the compelling picture. I'm a little torn - I both like and am irked by the off-centredness of the tire but a symmetrical shot would have somehow been less compelling.
